Ron Paris[1] is an American soul singer and R&B musician. He was part of The Platters and opened for The Jacksons prior to their forming of The Jackson 5. Previously, he had a show in Las Vegas called The Ron Paris Show, prior to moving to Santa Barbara, California where he resides today.[citation needed]
Paris has given guest lectures at the University of California, Santa Barbara, including a lecture titled, "Sweet Soul Music," where he discussed racism in the 1950s, including the 1955 murder of Emmett Till, a 14-year-old African-American teen. His lecture also addressed the ways in which soul music helped break down barriers between white and black audiences.[2]
