Word processors with sort capabilities can be useful in this regard. For lists that are alphabetized according to the first letter of the first word, the content of the list can be copied and pasted into the word processor, sorted, and then copied and pasted back into the Wikipedia edit box. For lists that are alphabetized according to the first letter of a second, or subsequent word (like by surname), the content of the list can be copied and pasted into the word processor, converted to a table (with column separations corresponding to the spaces), sorted by the appropriate column, converted back into text, and then copied and pasted into the Wikipedia edit box. The rendering of the list can be sorted with {{Sort list}}.

In order to add lists to this category, Add the tag {{Alphabetize}}, {{Alpha}} to the top of the list.
