Michael Porter (1948) is an British landscape painter known for his large-scale mixed media works, created using collaged paper and PVA glue.[1]

Porter was born in Derbyshire. He studied graphics at Nottingham College of Art from 1963 until 1966, Derby College of Art 1967-68 and studied fine art at Chelsea School of Art 1968-72.
Career
He was awarded an honorary fellowship from Falmouth University in 2007[citation needed] and an honorary doctorate from the University of Derby in 1999.[citation needed] In 1982-3 he was an artist in residence at the National Gallery, London.[citation needed] In 1990 he was invited artist from the Bulgarian Union of Artists sponsored by The British Council[citation needed] and in 2004 was an artist in residence at the Cape Ann Museum.[citation needed]
He has taught several post-graduate courses and has worked as a visiting lecturer in thirteen institutions.[2]
He exhibits widely both in the UK and internationally, recently[when?] showing at The Maas Gallery, London. Purdy Hicks, London. Jane Deering Gallery, Santa Barbara, USA. Royal West of England Academy, Bristol. Tate St Ives, St Ives.[3]
