Use this page to file a Request for mediation.

Choose a request name.

If the dispute you are requesting mediation of relates to only one article, the request name will be this article; so a dispute over Swimming would be Wikipedia:Requests for mediation/Swimming.

Click 'show' if you need more information.

If the dispute relates to a page that is not an article, for example, a template, then use the full name of the page; so Template:Example would be Wikipedia:Requests for mediation/Template:Example. If the dispute relates to a group of articles or other pages, then use your good judgment to decide on a descriptive request name. A dispute which related to the three articles Gary Abraham, Rebecca Adlington, and Harold Annison, who are all British swimmers, might have a request name of Wikipedia:Requests for mediation/British swimmers

If you get the request name wrong, the Chair will rename it to something more descriptive, so don't worry too much about the name you choose.

When you have selected a request name, go to the box at the bottom of this page, and then replace the text which reads "REPLACE THIS TEXT WITH ARTICLE NAME" with the request name you have selected. Then, do not click the button, but instead proceed to the next step.

Is this the first mediation case for this dispute?

If formal mediation has previously been attempted, there may be a case already with this name. Find out if there is; if so, add a space and then the number "2" after your selected request name; so it would now, in our hypothetical, read Wikipedia:Requests for mediation/Swimming 2.

Create the request page.

To do this, click the button underneath the box; this will create a request page with the request name you have selected, and preload into that page the mediation template. You must use this template to file for mediation, and you must fill out the information it requires, or your request will be rejected. (More assistance is given when you click the button and thus open the request page and template.)

Mediation cases are created on subpages of Wikipedia:Requests for mediation. To file a request, insert at the end of the Wikipedia:Requests for mediation/ text in the box below the name of the article your dispute concerns. For example: For a dispute about the Swimming article, you would type "Swimming" at the end of the text—such that it read Wikipedia:Requests for mediation/Swimming.

Now click the "Click here to file Request" button. You will then be taken to a page containing your mediation case; you should then fill out the dispute details, so that the MedCom may evaluate the request.
