- Evidence
- In this edit Alchemy12 adds to a comment that 81.159.211.87 has made. The relevant bit is "Forgive me if my replies are perhaps not swift. As I say, right now I have to jump through a few hoops to see anything updated on this site. Will have a word with some technical bods. 81.159.211.87 (talk) 19:13, 31 March 2008 (UTC) : please note, I now have an ID as (finally) we have a stable IP address here. Alchemy12 (talk) 20:49, 31 March 2008 (UTC)" (I haven't squashed the two comments together, they were written together like that in the same paragraph). This shows that Alchemy12 has the IP 81.159.211.87.
- Both Alchemy12 and 81.159.211.87 have participated in the Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Terry George (entrepreneur) discussion. 81.159.211.87 is supporting Alchemy12's position. This shows a non-good faith intent, i.e. Alchemy12 using 81.159.211.87 in a way that is contrary to WP:SOCK
- 81.159.211.87 made an edit on the Terry George (entrepreneur) an hour after Alchemy12 did. The edit is in support of the type of editing Alchemy12 is doing on that page. Note that this isn't proof, it's just circumstantial evidence that shows Alchemy12 has used 81.159.211.87 to remove stuff from an article where Alchemy12 has had his own removals reverted recently. It's possible this edit by 81.159.211.87 was just a mistake (didn't log on?).
- Update: While I was typing this up Alchemy12 has stated he is 81.159.211.87 on the Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Terry George (entrepreneur) page. He's done so in the same section that he used 81.159.211.87 to vote "delete" on an AfD he himself submitted. The delete vote is phrased to appear to be a disinterested IP that happens to be passing by - "Can anyone vote on this?"
It's possible there will be more (circumstantial) evidence but I think from the the first one it's clear that 81.159.211.87 and Alchemy12 are the same and from the second one (AfD) it's clear that Alchemy12 is using 81.159.211.87 as a sock, so just those two bits of evidence should be sufficient.
Declaration: My involvement with Alchemy12 is that I've added the references [1] [2] to the Terry George (entrepreneur) page where he has edited and I hold an opposing view to him in the AfD for that page. I don't think I'll be directly interacting with him or that article any more until both the AfD and this sockpuppet claim are closed (probably never in the case of the article as I think the references were all I wanted to add).
Note: Alchemy12 currently has a sockpuppet claim against User:Daxuk open here
- Comments
- 1) As I plainly stated in the quote that Alchemy12 and I are the same person, if I am a sockpuppet them I'm not a very good one.
- 2) The 'is anyone allowed to do this' thing was the comment of a newbie to the whole AfD thing asking if I was meant to vote as well as open the case.
- 3) I have two machines. One shared, one not. For blindingly obvious reasons,, I don;t use Keep Me Logged in on the shared machine. There will be times I forget!
- 4) In conclusion, there's no need for Ha! to wonder if we are the same person. We are, said so plainly both now and in the quote s/he provides. Am I a sockpuppet, no I'm just some poor sod new to AfD and not being given the benefit of the doubt by Ha! But, block me if you like: I'll still sleep soundly! :-)
- Comment. Is Daxuk a sockpuppet? I don't know: probably not. Who knows? But having seen how AfD reporters are treated there, I have decided not to edit further and to just let Daxuk do whatever the hell he feels like. I deleted the sockpuppet claim. 81.159.211.87 (talk) 16:01, 3 April 2008 (UTC)
- Ha! didn't add this case to the Suspected Sockpuppets list! Will do it myself. --81.159.211.87 (talk) 18:20, 4 April 2008 (UTC)
- Conclusions
Cases like that are partly the reason that WP:SSP is constantly backlogged. They've admitted to being the same user - there's no disruption, nor any circumvention of a block, nor any goodhand badhand editing- assuming good faith, I don't think it's hard to read "Can anyone vote on this" as being the comment of someone new to AfD who is asking whether they can vote on a deletion that they proposed. No action taken. GBT/C 11:56, 6 April 2008 (UTC)
