English: Max Askanazy (1865 - 1940) was a german pathologist, born in Stallupönen/East-Prussia, todays Kaliningrad oblast/ Russia. He studied an worked at the Albertus-University of Koenigsberg/ Prussia as scholar of Ernst Neumann (1834 - 1918). He went to the University of Genf in 1905 and became a well-known pathologist.
Deutsch: Max Askanazy (1865 - 1940) war ein deutscher und Schweizer Pathologe. Er studierte und arbeitete am Pathologischen Institut in Königsberg (heute Kaliningrad/ Russland). Bekannt geworden ist er durch die Blutforschung, indem er die postembryonal gebildete "pluripotente Blutstammzelle" postulierte. Weiterhin stellte er als einer der ersten Pathologen fest, dass eine Infektion eines Organs in ein Karzinom übergehen kann und forderte den Ausbau einer experimentellen Geschwulstlehre.
