English: 32-image macro stack of a dead drone bee. Bee was killed by placing in a plastic container in the freezer for 20 minutes. For future reference, I recommend a different procedure, such as preserving the bee in 90% ethanol for transportation. Using a sticky insect trap might be a useful technique to fix the position of the legs (great care and about 30 minutes of work was required to position this bee). Photos were taken at f/8 with a Canon 5D mark III and an EF 100mm f/2.8L IS macro lens. Two speedlights with umbrellas and diffusers at full power were used to increase light exposure.
