Summary

Description
English: Graph of rail freight tonne-km in the USA vs USSR (Soviet Union) from 1910-1990
Date

Data points are from many sources and various yearly issues of the same annual: Народное хозяйство СССР, Statistical Abstracts of the US, Railroad Facts, ICC , UN Statistical Yearbook, Transportation Facts and Trends, etc. Unfortunately when I collected most of this data decades ago, I neglected to note which .data came from where. In some cases nos. were read off other plotted curves. So it all needs redoing which will be easier if Russia ever gets the Soviet data on the Internet. This plot illustrates how the Soviet Union increased rail freight by over 50 fold and eventually hauled about double the rail freight of the USA.
