Runder Berg, 710 m, Schwäbische Alb (Swabian Alb), Deutschland. Deutsch: „Auslieger"; über einen schmalen Sattel noch mit der Albhochfläche verbunden. Der Runde Berg liegt im "Naturschutzgebiet Rutschen". Der Berg selbst ist nicht vulkanischen Ursprungs. Am nördlichen Fuß des Bergs und quer zum Tal (im Bild rechts), befindet sich ein vom Hangschutt verdeckter Vulkanschlot, der nur mit geomagnetischer Messung ermittelt werden konnte. Der Vulkan ist einer der 356 nachgewiesenen, schon im Ober-Miozän erloschenen Vulkane vom Typ "Schwäbischer Vulkan" ("Urach-Kirchheimer Vulkangebiet", nur basaltische Tuffe fördernd).
Beispiel für eine Reihe von Zeugenbergen, Ausliegerbergen, Ausliegern, etc., die typische Elemente der durch Erosion und Stufenrückverlagerung oder -versetzung gekennzeichneten Schichtstufe am Nordrand der Schwäbischen Alb sind. Auf dem großen Plateau befanden sich mehrere vor- und frühgeschichtliche Höhensiedlungen.English: Kind of table mountain, eroded to be almost a solitary next to the cuesta of the Swabian Alb. To the north of the mountain and across the valley there is a volcanic pipe, which could only be detected by geomagnetic exploration. The volcano of the typ "de:Schwäbischer Vulkan" (phreatomagmatic eruption) was active only in Upper Miocene. Prehistoric settlements have been verified. |
