Summary
| Description |
English: View of a sinker pitch from the view of the catcher. Its gyroscopic spin and seam orientation are such that the pitch is likely to experience significant forces from the seam-shifted wake phenomena. At the top right pole, the rotating seams are causing a greater disturbance to the air than the rotating smooth section at the bottom left pole. This induces a force in the direction of the smooth area and causes the pitch to run and dive as it approaches the plate more rapidly than a pitch that has more even disturbances. |
