Deutsch: Die Überlebensrate (lx)- und Reproduktionsrate (mx (oben) und die Wahrscheinlichkeit der Reproduktion und der Anteil der überlebenden Reproduktion bei einem individuellen Alter (x-Achse) einer hypothetischen nicht-alternden Population. Die Reproduktionswahrscheinblichkeit zum Alter x ergibt sich als Produkt von lx und mx. Der Anteil der überlebenden Reproduktion kann als Maß für die Stärke der natürlichen Selektion zum Alter x gesehen werden. Der Einfluss der natürlichen Selektion nimmt mit zunehmendem Alter ab, da sich nur sehr wenige Individuen in hohem Alter reproduzieren können. Die meisten sterben zuvor.
