Description View of the after part of the flight deck of the U.S. Navy aircraft carrier USS Hornet (CV-8) during the "Doolittle Raid" on 18 April 1942. Visible are eight of 16 U.S. Army Air Force North American B-25B Mitchell bombers and four of Hornet´s Douglas SBD Dauntless dive bombers. The Gleaves-class destroyer USS Gwin (DD-433) is coming alongside, the light cruiser USS Nashville (CL-43) is visible on the left.
