msmtp

Free and open-source SMTP client

msmtp is an SMTP client.[4][5] It is free software, published under the GPLv3.[3] msmtp is packaged by major Linux distributions[6] and by FreeBSD.[4] It can also be found bundled in Android applications.[7]

msmtp is able to utilise email account passwords stored in Keychain on OS X,[5] or in GNOME Keyring on computers using the GNOME desktop.[8]

msmtp can be used in conjunction with OfflineIMAP.[9] This allows the user to read email and draft replies offline,[9] and to use msmtp to send the replies when back online.[10]
