Template:R from gendered term/doc

![]() | This template should not be substituted nor used to tag soft redirects. |
Usage
- This redirect category (rcat) template populates Category:Redirects from gendered terms and Category:Printworthy redirects by default. In 2003, efforts were begun to support the Wikimedia Foundation's goal of increasing access and availability of Wikipedia articles in printed versions. Mainspace redirects that clarify gender subjects are usually suitable for a printed version. In other words they are printworthy. See below for those few instances when a gender redirect is not printworthy.
![]() | Please do not alter the printworthy settings of this rcat without first notifying the Version 1.0 Editorial Team, who are responsible for any and all materials, including redirects, that go into a printed version of Wikipedia. |
- Add this rcat to a redirect page (not a talk-page redirect) in the following manner:
<syntaxhighlight lang="wikitext">
- REDIRECT (target article title)
This page is a redirect. The following categories are used to track and monitor this redirect:
|
</syntaxhighlight>
- Template {{Rcat shell}} is an alias for the Redirect category shell template, which may be used to add as many appropriate rcats as needed, usually from one to seven, along with their parameters, to a redirect. For more information see the documentation on its template page. This rcat may also tag a redirect individually:
<syntaxhighlight lang="wikitext">
- REDIRECT (target article title)
- From a gendered term: This is a redirect from a word or phrase that specifies gender to one that is either gender-neutral or specific to a different gender.
</syntaxhighlight>
- This is in accord with instructions found at WP:REDCAT.
- Use this rcat on all mainspace redirects from a word or phrase that specifies a gender, to one that is either gender-neutral, or specific to another gender.
- Most of these redirects are considered printworthy, so this rcat also populates Category:Printworthy redirects by default. There are some types that are not considered printworthy, such as standard plurals like Ballerinos. When you add this rcat to a redirect that you decide is unprintworthy, then use the first parameter to subdue the Printworthy redirects category in the following manner:
<syntaxhighlight lang="wikitext">
This page is a redirect. The following categories are used to track and monitor this redirect:
|
</syntaxhighlight>
- or the <syntaxhighlight lang="text" class="" style="" inline="1">1=</syntaxhighlight> may be omitted:
<syntaxhighlight lang="wikitext">
This page is a redirect. The following categories are used to track and monitor this redirect:
|
</syntaxhighlight>
- and if used individually:
<syntaxhighlight lang="wikitext">
- From a gendered term: This is a redirect from a word or phrase that specifies gender to one that is either gender-neutral or specific to a different gender.
</syntaxhighlight>
- That subdues the Printworthy redirects category and populates Category:Unprintworthy redirects.
