Background
Sandy Stimpson was first elected mayor in 2013, defeating incumbent mayor and current state representative Sam Jones.[2] Stimpson was reelected in 2017[3] and 2021[4]. On September 25, 2024, Mobile mayor Sandy Stimpson publicly announced he would not seek reelection to a fourth term.[1] Following Stimpson's announcement, speculation began on who would seek the seat. This will be the first time in 20 years where no incumbent is running for mayor of Mobile.[5]
