Adarsh Telemedia is an Indian film production and post-production company based in Kolkata, West Bengal. It was founded by Amit Agarwal[1], a producer and director who has been involved in several Hindi and Bengali films. The company started as a post-production studio, but later diversified into film production, event creation and management, and animation
History
Adarsh Telemedia[2] was established in 2010 as a post-production studio, offering services such as digital film making, editing, and color grading. The company has worked on various projects such as feature films, television serials, telefilms, music videos, documentaries, corporate films, short films, and ad films
The company made its debut as a producer and production house with the Bengali film ‘Astra’ in 2012, which was well received by the audience. The film was released in more than 70 theatres in West Bengal
The company then ventured into the Hindi film industry with back to back projects such as ‘M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story’ (as original producer), ‘Vartak Nagar’ (as producer), ‘Simran’ (as producer), and an animation film ‘Ajooba’ (as producer)
‘M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story’ was a biographical film based on the life of the former Indian cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, starring Sushant Singh Rajput and directed by Neeraj Pandey. The film was a joint production with Inspired Entertainment Pvt. Ltd. and Fox Star Studios, and was released worldwide on 30 September 2016. The film was a huge success at the box office and received positive reviews from critics and audiences[3]
‘Vartak Nagar’ was a coming-of-age film set in the backdrop of the Bombay mill strike of the 1980s, starring Jimmy Sheirgill and Raghu Ram, and directed by Atul Taishete. The film was a joint production with Non Stop Entertainment and Dione Entertainment in association with Kunal Kohli Productions, and was scheduled for a 2017 release[4]
‘Simran’ was a comedy-drama film starring Kangana Ranaut and directed by Hansal Mehta. The film was a joint production with Paramhans Creations and T-Series, and was released on 15 September 2017. The film received mixed reviews from critics and performed moderately at the box office[5]
‘Ajooba’ was an animation film directed by Amit Agarwal himself. The film was a children’s adventure film with elements of action and comedy. The film was under production and had no release date announced
The company also associated itself with ‘Bijapur Bulls’, one of the teams of Karnataka Premier League (KPL), a Twenty20 cricket league established by the Karnataka State Cricket Board (KSCA) in 2016
The company also organized and managed events such as the music show ‘Yo Yo Honey Singh Live Concert’ in Kolkata and several English stage productions in Kolkata[6]
