Alara Monroe is an American rapper, singer, songwriter, and entertainer from Las Vegas, Nevada via Lake Havasu City and Phoenix, Arizona.
Alara originally gained a local buzz in the Arizona local hip-hop during 2015-2018, before relocating to Las Vegas, Nevada.
Early Years and Local Buzz
"Underground Samurai"
Alara began her artistic journey in Arizona, where she built a fervent local following. Her unconventional style in both music and music videos set her apart from the crowd. As a member of the group “Underground Samurai,” alongside ScruseBoy, WIlliam Speakz, Donnie Win, and Trilly Hydro, Alara gained prominence within the local scene. Their collaborative efforts resonated with fans and critics alike.
“Silver Tongue Samurai” and Local Stardom
Alara’s breakout moment came with her single “Silver Tongue Samurai.” The track catapulted her onto many local radars, leading to numerous live performances and headlining gigs. Opening for major acts like Bhad Bhabie and Bone Thugz-N-Harmony further solidified her status as a rising star. Audiences were drawn to her raw talent and magnetic stage presence.
Controversy and “Aquamarine”
In 2020, Alara released her album “Aquamarine.” The standout track, “CLOUD,” stirred controversy in Arizona due to its unapologetic portrayal of gender nonconformity in the accompanying video. Alara fearlessly challenged norms, sparking conversations and pushing boundaries. Her artistry transcended mere entertainment; it became a catalyst for change.
Feuds and Influences
Alara hasn’t shied away from clashes with other Arizona figures, notably engaging in small feuds with Rocqy Tyraid. Her authenticity and refusal to conform have ruffled feathers but also garnered respect. Influenced by a wide range of artists—including Charli XCX, Christina Aguilera, Lil Kim, Janet Jackson, Nicki Minaj, and Nas — Alara’s sound defies categorization.
