Yeh Shuhua (Chinese: 葉舒華; pinyin: Yè Shū Huá; Korean: 유수화; Japanese: シュファ; born 6 January 2000), known mononymously as Shuhua (Korean: 슈화), is a Taiwanese vocalist and dancer. She is active as part of the South Korean girl group (G)I-dle, which debuted in 2018.
Life and career
2000–2018: Early life and Pre-debut activities

Yeh Shuhua was born on January 6, 2000, in Taouyuan, Taiwan, as the second of three daughters.[2] Yeh is of Hakka, Han Chinese and Atayal descent.
She attended Bugang Kookmin Elementary School, Bugang Kookmin Middle School, and later on, Taipei Hwa Kang Arts School.[2][3] In her youth, captivated by actors on TV, she dreamt of becoming a celebrity, expressing her aspirations to a family with determination. Despite her young age, she took proactive steps, practicing daily and imagining audiences. Her joy in dancing with friends reshaped her dream from acting to singing. As a child, she looked up to South Korean artists such as HyunA and Shinee.[4]
In 2016, out of curiosity, Yeh auditioned for Cube Entertainment in Taiwan along with her friends, where she passed and became a trainee for 2 years.[4]
In 2017, Yeh participated in the promotional video for Rising Star Cosmetics, sharing the spotlight with her future group members, Yuqi and Minnie. During the same year, Yeh made an appearance in the music video for "PET" by 10cm with Yoo Seon-ho.[5]
2018–2020: (G)I-dle and solo activities
In April 8, 2018, Yeh was revealed to be an upcoming member of Cube Entertainment's new girl group, (G)I-dle.[6]
In May 2, 2018, she debuted with (G)I-dle, with the lead single titled "Latata" from their debut album, I Am.[7]
In October 2020, Yeh took part in the Chuseok Special Idol Puppy Championships.[2] Later, on December 18, 2020, she joined the 2020 KBS Song Festival Maknae Special Stage, delivering a performance of Apink's "I Don't Know" alongside ITZY's Shin Yu-na, I*ZONE's Jang Won-young, and Oh My Girl's Arin.[8]
In June 2021, Yeh was featured as a guest on episodes 355 and 356 of the Taiwanese variety show "Mr. Player."[9][10] In October 2021, Yeh appeared as a guest on EBS's show alongside Chef Kim Young-un.[11]
Personal life
Yeh came to South Korea in 2016 after being accepted as a trainee in Cube Entertainment. Despite concerns about relocating to a foreign country at a young age, she resolved to pursue her dreams, fearing potential regrets if she didn't take the chance. The most challenging aspect of her trainee days was grappling with the language barrier and striving to comprehend Korean.
Yeh's native language is Taiwanese Mandarin, and she acknowledges not being fully fluent in Hakka Taiwanese.[12] Additionally, she is proficient in Korean and has a good command of both English and Japanese languages.
