Purpose of template
This template may be used to create Arbitration Committee requests that do not involve opening a new case. It covers:
- Requests to amend or extend the remedies and enforcement provisions in a prior case - usually because they are proving insufficient to their intended aims of resolving the dispute. Common cases - a loophole needs shutting, matters have spread to a new area, or the resolution is proving too mild or gameable to bring a speedy end to relevant problematic conduct by users.
- Requests for appeal or removal related to sanctions (including bans)
- Other requests - rarely.
When you create a request, place all comments in your own section, and do not edit anyone else's section. Keep your statement brief. Long statements may be refactored or removed entirely. Cases are accepted or commented on, at the discretion of the arbitrators.
Standard format of amendment requests
On June 28th, 2009 by a 10/0 vote, the Arbitration Committee determined that all requests for the amendment of closed cases are to be made in a standard format:
A request for amendment of a closed case must clearly state the following:
- (a) The name of the case to be amended;
- (b) The clause(s) to be modified, referenced by number or section title;
- (c) For each clause in (b), the desired modification; and
- (d) The rationale for the requested amendment, comprising no more than 1000 words.
Any request which does not comply with these criteria will be summarily removed. By following the template below, your request should meet all of these requirements.
