Function details: Since redirect pages are not considered stubs, remove stub templates from any redirect pages. (e.g. this edit). Also perform any AWB general fixes at the same time. GoingBatty (talk) 19:16, 28 March 2015 (UTC)

Would like to expand this task to remove other maintenance templates (e.g. {{notability}}, {{unreferenced}}, {{refimprove}}). Will NOT run AWB general fixes with this task to avoid changing the page from a redirect to an article. GoingBatty (talk) 14:52, 8 April 2015 (UTC)

Before saying this is fine project-wide, want to ensure there have been recent posts for community input. The C:MBAS group above is a good place to trial, as it was specifically requested. Post the 500 edit trial, and then we can extend the trial to that entire category while awaiting input. — xaosflux Talk 19:43, 28 March 2015 (UTC)

@Xaosflux: Category:Main Belt asteroid stubs only had 461 redirects with stub templates, which the bot fixed in these 461 edits. Would you like me to finish the trial in other categories, or are these edits sufficient? Thanks! GoingBatty (talk) 00:01, 29 March 2015 (UTC)

How do you plan to tackle "All" redirects with stub templates? Are you going to crawl every single stub on the project? Do you have any estimates of the number of edits this will entail? — xaosflux Talk 00:16, 29 March 2015 (UTC)
@Xaosflux: I searched the March 4 database dump for mainspace pages containing #REDIRECT\s*\[\[.+\]\].+{{[\w\d-]+stubs?}} (ignoring comments). The bot will skip articles that don't currently contain #REDIRECT\s*\[\[ and skip articles that aren't redirects (i.e. those that have .+\n#REDIRECT). Preparsing the list, I found 598 pages for fixing. GoingBatty (talk) 02:55, 29 March 2015 (UTC)

@Jay8g: I filed this AWB bug to report the issue. The simplest solution for this bot is to turn of AWB's general fixes until the bug is fixed.
@Xaosflux: Wikipedia:Redirect and Help:Redirect don't specifically say that you MUST remove all other article content from pages after they become redirects. However, it would seem reasonable to me to remove {{notability}} and other maintenance templates. GoingBatty (talk) 02:58, 30 March 2015 (UTC)
@Jay8g and Xaosflux: Since the AWB developers didn't fix the bug, I won't run general fixes with this bot task. However, I would like to remove other maintenance templates while doing this tasks, as it will help with some of the backlogs. I have updated the function overview & details above.
