Copyright investigations (manual article tagging)
- Germination (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) A new editor claimed the lead sentence was a copyvio and removed it. I restored the text from before the addition, as best I can. However it seems to text evolved organically, which is rather uncharacteristic of a copyvio and really yields no point at which we can say the text was added. I have asked the claiming editor for a source of the copyvio, but he or she has not edited since. Any assistance here would be appreciated. --TeaDrinker (talk) 04:10, 24 March 2012 (UTC)
- I've left a note, but I think you handled it perfectly well. :) --Moonriddengirl (talk) 13:01, 7 April 2012 (UTC)
- The Orthodox Chamber Choir (history · last edit) from http://www.ortodoksinenkamarikuoro.fi/english/index.php. Close paraphrase, unreferenced.CharlieDelta (talk) 08:39, 24 March 2012 (UTC)
- Avonmouth fc (history · last edit) from http://www.avonmouthfootballclub.com/. Permission possible. Contributor informed how to proceed CharlieDelta (talk)
- Lokenath Brahmachari (history · last edit) from http://hinduism.about.com/od/gurussaints/p/lokenath.htm. This is a relisted copypaste. Moonriddengirl (talk) 12:17, 24 March 2012 (UTC)
- A contributor has requested that I remove the copyright flag from the article, as he intends to rewrite. Since permission is highly unlikely (the original contributor having copied or closely paraphrased multiple sources in his Wikipedia career), I have done so. If permission shows up, we can merge the material in or let him do it. Not marking this resolved, as a quick glance to ensure all is well would be a good idea. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 12:56, 24 March 2012 (UTC)
Purged. Copyright problem removed from history. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 13:07, 7 April 2012 (UTC)
- GLEaM (history · last edit) from http://www.gleamviz.org/gleam-in-detail/. Technical language. Close paraphrase. CharlieDelta (talk) 18:00, 24 March 2012 (UTC)
- 826 Naval Air Squadron (history · last edit) from http://www.fleetairarmarchive.net/Squadrons/826.html. Very close paraphrase. Sequential narrative, so the order of events would have to stay the same but the edit history shows the paraphrase from the original copyright text CharlieDelta (talk) 18:48, 24 March 2012 (UTC)
- I've suggested on the talk page that permission be sought from the external website and I will also have a go at a rewrite. It's probably worth keeping if we can.--CharlieDelta (talk) 05:53, 27 March 2012 (UTC)
- I've requested permission from the copyright holder and stubbed the problematical text on the temp page. I've checked the rest of the article and I think it's OK. So I think no copyright concerns remain. Will report back on the Talk page when I hear from the copyright holder.--CharlieDelta (talk) 06:27, 31 March 2012 (UTC)
- Would appreciate some input from a clerk or admin on this one now. An IP has removed the CP template and someone else has edited the original article. I seem to be a lone voice on the copyright protection issues over there. I have had no response yet to the e-mail sent to the copyright holder requesting permission.--CharlieDelta (talk) 18:54, 3 April 2012 (UTC)
- There has been no response to my e-mail on 31 March to the copyright holder on 31 March, so I think we have to assume that permission is not going to be granted. I see that another contributer has been editing the temp page while others have been editing the original article.--CharlieDelta (talk) 16:18, 6 April 2012 (UTC)
Article cleaned by investigator or others. No remaining infringement. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 13:22, 7 April 2012 (UTC)
- Palestinian costumes (history · last edit) from http://web.archive.org/web/20061024054614/http://www.palestinecostumearchive.org/contemporary.htm, also, http://web.archive.org/web/20050630085338/http://www.palestinecostumearchive.org/pc_background.htm and http://web.archive.org/web/20061024053919/http://www.palestinecostumearchive.org/regional.htm GabrielF (talk) 08:40, 9 March 2012 (UTC)
- Boy, what a mess! The article is blatantly derivative; there are rewrites being done on the article in spite of the template, following which the content is moved to the temporary space with no explanations anywhere of who is doing what, when or where. :/ The proposed rewrite is not usable. I've left a note at the article's talk and have relisted. If this is not rewritten by the time it comes around, there is a clean version to revert to - but it'll be a tragedy if we have to do that. See talk. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 22:46, 24 March 2012 (UTC)
- That's not the only mess. I've run some likely candidate phrases through Google books and there is a lot of verbatim copying from Palestinian costume (Shelagh Weir, British Museum Press, 1994)—still present on the temp page. Some of it is in quotes but most of it is not. Just one example. Voceditenore (talk) 17:33, 28 March 2012 (UTC)
Article cleaned by investigator or others. No remaining infringement. Tragically, I've had to restore to the last presumed clean. I've not yet deleted the temp page but have listed under today to look into this as well as to purge the article history, as needed. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 13:57, 7 April 2012 (UTC)
- Wisconsin Sea Grant (history · last edit) from . DpmukBOT (talk) 00:00, 25 March 2012 (UTC)
- Article was first tagged for G12 then blanked for CP investigation by an editor who did not complete the process, nor inform the contributor (which I have now done). The problem is a mix of copyvio and close paraphrase.--CharlieDelta (talk) 13:39, 25 March 2012 (UTC)

Backwardscopy. Tag and explanation placed at talk page. Note that the early version of this list was originally added in 2006 as a section to Aerosmith with this edit and was subsequently removed and added to this article where it was gradually explanded over the years by a series of editors. The owner of the site listed above (who also added the original information, but not the wording or formatting) used in the List article, admits on the talk page that they copied and pasted the 2009 WP version to their website, which was begun in 2009.
