  • Supporting evidence: Unquestionably the above are sockpuppets of long-term, very long-term idiot Lyle123 (talk · contribs) a.k.a. StealBoy (talk · contribs). The edit pattern is unique so I'm not looking for confirmation that these accounts are socks to be blocked (actually, I've already blocked them indef). But (I used to do this directly through Dmcdevit) I need to know if other accounts were operated on the same IPs so that the mess can be cleaned up. Ideally, a range block would be nice: it was pretty effective in the past but unfortunately, he seems to be operating on a new range. Please contact me for details about this vandal if needed (though I think most checkusers are very familiar with this nuisance) Pascal.Tesson (talk) 19:22, 24 September 2008 (UTC)

Note that this is somewhat of a peculiar request. Lyle123 (talk · contribs) is a banned editor well-known for his long-term abuse of Wikipedia. He's got so many sockpuppets (see both Category:Suspected Wikipedia sockpuppets of Lyle123 and Category:Suspected Wikipedia sockpuppets of Lyle123, not to mention the confirmed socks category) that I've stopped tagging the new accounts on the basis of WP:DENY. Over the last year or so, I've indef-blocked dozens of these accounts (as have other admins) and usually reported my findings to Dmcdevit who checkusered them without going through a formal RFCU, blocked socks which had gone under the radar and imposed range blocks a couple of times. Unfortunately, Dmcdevit seems to be MIA at the moment. I'm listing here some of the most recent socks identified, but more than anything, I'm interested in finding some other checkuser who can replace Dmcdevit and routinely check new accounts as they pop up (current rate is about once a week). (extra note: There is zero doubt that these are socks of Lyle123 since the vandalism pattern is so unique. But perhaps the check can result in a range block on Exetel IPs: the range for the participating anonymous edits is pretty consistent: 220.233.24x.xxx)

Indeed, I usually mark them as StealBoy socks. NawlinWiki and Kevin (among others) mark them as Lyle123 socks. But this is clearly a single vandal and the goal of this request is not to verify that all the above are socks: that much is obvious. The two important questions here are: (1) are there other sock accounts on the same underlying IP which have to be blocked? and (2) is there a way to impose a range block with limited collateral damage?  IP blocked I have done a soft rangeblock on 220.233.242.0/23, from which I believe all the vandalism comes. There are a couple of other accounts who shouldn't be affected by the block and a couple of useful anonymous edits -- very little collateral damage.
I have also blocked these previously unblocked socks:
