English: The hydrodynamic laboratory; Newsreels in which Dutch subjects of a certain week are presented.; Hydrodynamic Laboratory in Delft. SHOTS: - ext. and several shots of the int. where young men try to solve several problems by experimenting with models of ships and harbour installations in huge water basins with the aid of various equipment. Mentioned are: the construction of the new harbour in Harlingen; the elimination of the sluice stream in the Noths Sea Canal; the determination of the maximum speed of ships in connection to the damage on the banks caused by the beating of waves. During World War II the newsreels by film producers Polygoon and Profilti were controlled by the German occupiers. Polygoon and Profilti had to work together with the German film rental office Tobis. From January 1, 1941 the newsreels were therefore called Tobis News. Until the fall of 1944 newsreels under this name were produced alternately by Polygoon and Profilti. |
