Serednie (Ukrainian: Середнє; Hungarian: Szerednye; Slovak: Seredné; ‹See Tfd›Russian: Среднее) is a rural settlement in Uzhhorod Raion, Zakarpattia Oblast, western Ukraine.[3] The town's population was 3,505 as of the 2001 Ukrainian Census.[3] Current population: 4,361 (2022 estimate).[2] Geographically, Serednie is located exactly between the cities of Uzhhorod, the district's administrative center, and Mukacheve.
The village houses the remains of a Romanesque castle.[4] The village itself was first mentioned in the 14th century,[5] although archaeologists have dated the castle back to the 12th century.[6] The castle is said to have been built by the Knights Templar.[6][7][8]

History
Until 26 January 2024, Serednie was designated urban-type settlement. On this day, a new law entered into force which abolished this status, and Serednie became a rural settlement.[9]
