Usage

  • Add this rcat to a redirect page (not a talk-page redirect) in the following manner:

Template {{Rcat shell}} is an alias for the Redirect category shell template, which may be used to add as many appropriate rcats as needed, usually from one to seven, along with their parameters, to a redirect. For more information see the documentation on its template page. This rcat may also tag a redirect individually:

  • From a file extension: This is a redirect from a title that is a file extension (such as <syntaxhighlight lang="text" class="" style="" inline="1">.svg</syntaxhighlight> and <syntaxhighlight lang="text" class="" style="" inline="1">.txt</syntaxhighlight>) to a related topic, such as an explanatory article, section of an article or a table. An example is: .jpgJPEG.
    • It leads to the title in accordance with the naming conventions for common names and can help writing. It is not necessary to replace these redirected links with a piped link.
    • This redirect is automatically sorted by the first letter (not by the leading dot).

  • Use this rcat on any mainspace redirect from a title that is a file extension (such as <syntaxhighlight lang="text" class="" style="" inline="1">.svg</syntaxhighlight> and <syntaxhighlight lang="text" class="" style="" inline="1">.txt</syntaxhighlight>) to a related topic, such as an explanatory article, section of an article or a table. The entries are automatically sorted in the category by the extension codes without the "." prefix. An example is:
  • These redirects are automatically sorted to the category by the first letter, and not by the leading dot (.).
